Founded in 1972 as Beekman Publishers, long before the phrase "New Age" was in general circulation, we began a journey to search the globe for innovative, world-changing authors. It was a time for putting the idealism of the sixties into action, and the results continue to positively affect our future.

Beekman Books offers an eclectic collection of alternative medicine, holistic wellness, homeopathy, and natural health titles as well progressive thought in the areas of music, business, politics, history, war, and especially peace.

Our current focus and commitment is to foster the kindness that will carry us all through these times of financial and political uncertainty. To this end, we would encourage us all to be generous with one another, with our time, our caring, our love, and our attention to others.

Our Mission Statement: "To provide our customers with valuable, informative, and uplifting books for the body, mind, and spirit in a variety of fields with an emphasis on unusual or neglected subject matter. Our commitment is to serve with high ethical standards providing quality products and friendly, effective service, in a spirit of cooperation and shared concern for promoting human development."

We are pleased and proud to introduce our newest local authors

Evan and Donna Ducker

EVAN DUCKER is now a 17 year old high school senior, who was recently honored by being named to the 2011 Parade Magazine All-American Service Team.

Evan Ducker is a High School Honor-roll Student; recognized by Who's Who Among Outstanding Middle School Students 2005-2006 & 2006-2007

Evan has a port-wine stain on his face. Statistics show he is in good company--One in ten babies is born each year in the U.S. with a birthmark of some kind. The incidence is estimated to be the same in other countries.
Yet, as common as the marks are, Evan asked (at the age of 4) why none of the characters in his story books had a birthmark like his. That one question became the inspiration for Buddy Booby's Birthmark.
Evan developed the concept of the setting, plot, and characters by drawing on his imagination and relentless interest in animals. Together, with his mother Donna, they created the story based on their personal experiences.
"I guess I just wanted kids with birthmarks, like me, to have a book with a character they could relate to," says Evan. "I think people who read it will get a better idea of what we (kids with birthmarks) go through every day."

He enjoys all types of animals & wildlife; collecting dragons, Beanie Babies, and Star Wars memorabilia; plays soccer, basketball, tennis, guitar, bass, and flute; and has a black belt in taekwondo.

Evan is an avid reader, counting Dragon Rider, and the Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl series' among his favorite books. He lives in upstate New York with his co-author Mom, dad Greg, and his pets: "Elmo: the dog, "Diego" the Caledonian Eyelash Crested Gecko, and "Vader" the Madagascan hissing cockroach!

Evan is Vice President and co-owner of E & D Books, Ltd., a corporation he established with his mother. He also hopes to become an animal behaviorist and travel to the Galapagos Islands and Australia.

Donna Cardenia Ducker is Evan's proud mom.

A former television journalist, Donna worked as an associate producer for CNN in Atlanta, GA, and as a reporter with WTZA-TV in Kingston, NY. She wrote, produced, and edited features for local and national television.

A former Press Writer and Media Relations Coordinator for the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Donna was responsible for all matters related to the Institute's publicity via international print and broadcast media.

Although Buddy Booby's Birthmark is her first children's book, Donna has written for Taste magazine and has had several freelance features published in various publications.

Donna is the President of E & D Books, Ltd., a corporation she and Evan founded together for the Buddy Booby? series. She is also a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

She served on the American Cancer Society's Ulster County Board of Directors, and edited Vision, the organization's newsletter. She served as an adjunct professor of Broadcasting at the State University of New York,  Ulster County Community College, as well as on the college's Communications & Media Arts Advisory Council.

A member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity, Donna holds degrees in Communications & Business Management.

She enjoys singing, playing guitar, and song-writing--with inspiration from her favorite artists, Jamie Cullum, Bruce Springsteen, and Cyndi Lauper.  She also enjoys NASCAR--naming Boris Said her favorite driver.
